The Communications Design degree at NYCT requires a Senior Project in which the student develops a comprehensive semester long design project. I chose to create a company for which I designed packaging, advertising and additional merchandise. I did research to find eco-friendly packaging and organizations that support the rainforest. A large percentage of cashews are grown in Brazil.

My resulting project was chosen as one of the 15 best from the Communication Design Department for the Senior Project Showcase of Spring, 2022.

CAJU is a company specializing in healthy, delicious, cashew nut products. Cashews are rich in fiber, protein, healthy fats, vitamins and minerals. They contain no cholesterol while keeping the rich and creamy texture of milk and butter.
Besides offering a delicious product, CAJU leads by example. Through its sustainably sourced products and manufacturing practices it contributes to a greener planet. In addition, the products alert customers on how to sustain the Brazilian Amazon Rainforest.

Challenge: To promote cashew-based products using packaging that is eco-friendly while linking their use to protecting the Amazon Rainforest.
Problem: To encouraging consumption of healthy cashew products while educating consumers about deforestation of the Brazilian Rainforest. 17% of the Rainforest is already gone. The loss of trees and other vegetation causes increased greenhouse gases, soil erosion, fewer crops, flooding, and a host of problems for indigenous people.
Solution: Package cashew products in attractive aluminum and kraft paper that is eco-conscious and develop social media advertising. Partners - One Tree Planted, Fair-trade, and Rainforest Alliance Certified- whose information is on the package alerting consumers about ways to save the rainforest.
